Cacomistle (Bassariscus sumichrasti)

This is quite a rare animal, in the same family as raccoons. I didn’t manage to get a photo of it, because it moved quite fast and I was too busy watching it climb through the trees. We saw it outside the town of Santa Elena in Costa Rica and were very luck to get a glimpse of one. So you know what it looks like, here is a photo of a very wet and cute looking one. Hopefully I will be going to Costa Rica again at some point in 2013 and getting a photo of a cacomistle will be one of my challenges!
