I can’t find the exact species for this, but it belongs to the genus Paraponera. These ants have a sting which is meant to be as powerful as being shot, hence the name. The effects cant last for a day and it used to be a custom in some Central American tribes for young warriors to be bitten in order to prove themselves. I put my finger near it to give an idea of size. With hindsight, this was potentially a bit silly.
