Cherrie’s Tanager (Ramphocelus costaricensis)

Going to a tropical country like Costa Rica, it seems that all the animals are bigger and more exciting than animals in the UK. Cherrie’s Tanager completely embodies this. Looking at it’s head and the top of it’s body, it could any plain songbird. But then there’s the explosion of bright red feathers which add that extra something to it. (Unfortunately, I was n’t using a good enough camera at the time to zoom in and properly show you the red feathers!)
