Common Frog (Rana temporaria)

This is the only frog species widespread in the UK. There are some other species, such as the marsh frog or pool frog, but these tend to localised and/or rare.

Trying to take a photo of a frog is quite fun. Frogs seem to be animals which will either sit nice and quietly for the photo or will do their best to hop away as fast as possible. This frog was sat under some rocks next to my pond and was quite happy to sit for the camera, which I placed a couple of inches away. I think this might be partly to do with the fact that it was dazzled by the torch I was shining on it!
