Flying Solo

This is another heron from Regent’s Park. I have cropped the photo to give a different shape from the usual standard size. I did this because the photo originally had too much sky around the bird, making the photo seem quite empty. I think that this shape fits the bird much better, as the heron is itself long and thin. As well, it gives a better sense of movement and direction, as you can see the empty sky that the heron is flying towards.
I also did this to the photos in my previous post, except they were portrait rather than landscape. Previously, I have not varied the dimensions of my photos that much, but I quite like the effect and might try it more in the future. Unfortunately, work will probably be quite hectic this week and I have an audition for a TV gameshow at the weekend(!) so I doubt I will be taking any photos for a while!
